This all-terrain detector offers new and exclusive Garrett technology that makes it ideal for hunting coins, relics, caches, jewelry, and even gold nuggets. Select from either Standard or Professional search modes with enhanced audio features.
The AT Pro comes with a DD search coil configuration thats built to power through ground interference in areas of highly mineralized soil. Conventional concentric coils found on popular machines like the Garrett ACE 250 cannot compete with the power of the DD coil when it comes to mineralized grounds typically found while relic hunting or prospecting. Concentric coils dramatically lose detection depth in these types of areas while the DD coil found on the AT Pro remains at optimal depth.
The construction of the DD coil also allows for superior target ID separation, protection from ground interference, and enhanced pinpointing capabilities.

As soon as I began using the AT Pro, I began finding silver coins. I went back to places I hunted with my prior detector and I was surprised to discover silver coins I missed before.
I really like that the AT Pro produces unique sounds for different things. When I have a coin under the coil I can usually tell it apart from trash due to a certain silky, smooth quality to the sound as opposed to the sharp, shrilly sound of a bottle cap for example. Also, having the ability to turn the Iron signals on or off on the fly helps with identifying the targets.
Generally, the AT Pro is sophisticated enough without being hard to use. It is relatively light and the new cam locks make it feel nice and solid.
Last, I really like hunting with it and not worrying about it getting wet.
All in all, it is a very good metal detector that easily competes with more expensive machines.

I have been detecting for about 6 months. I started with a Fisher F2 but kept seeing everyone on the videos using an Etrac so I bought one. Big mistake. Was not happy with the Etrac so I bought an AT Pro. Went hunting with it last evening (8/30/2011) for the first time and could not have been more pleased. I found 23 coins in about 3 hours. That may not seem like a lot to some hunters but for me that was outstanding. I never even came close to doing that good with the Fisher or the Etrac. The Etrac is a hard machine to use and the AT Pro was simply even on the first hunt. I was totally amazed at how much easier it was to use than the Etrac. All I can say is don't buy and Etrac when you can buy an AT Pro much cheaper and hunting will be a lot more fun. I will be putting my Etrac on ebay in the very near future because I never intend to use it again.

I personally use and love the Garrett AT Pro. Living in Jersey, I like to detect all types of grounds including salt water beaches, fresh water lakes, wooded areas, and everything in between. While the AT Pro is not meant to be used on salt water beaches, it can be used great on both wet and dry sand with proper ground balancing and sensitivity settings. Using in the salt water itself is a different story.
Moving up from an ACE 250 to the AT Pro was a huge promotion for me. You dont realize how important things like Pro Audio, Iron Audio and ground balancing are until you use a machine that has them all. The AT Pro's DD coil works wonders in those trashy areas such as old homesites where a lot of iron nails and other objects may lie next to the good targets. Add in the Pro audio and iron audio to the DD coil, and it's a major combination for success.
I'd recommend the AT Pro to just about anyone (unless of course you're looking to do salt water hunting or dive hunting). It's a great all around machine that makes my treasure hunting so much more enjoyable. Thanks Garrett!

I found the AT Pro a pleasant machine to hunt with. Some of its strong points were: easy operation, light weight, automatic ground balance, highly versatile, and extremely weatherproof. The ATP is a true All-Terrain detector that can be used on land, in the water, in the mud, or even snow. The new AT Pro is a unique detector with something to offer every hunter. It can be used for all types of detecting and can be taken just about anywhere. It offers versatility and performance at a reasonable price.
