The Fisher F2 metal detector is ideally suited for those new to the hobby. It is a powerful entry-level machine in the Fisher F-series lineup perfect for coin & jewelry hunters. Here are some of its features:

The F2 is known among its entry-level competitors as the machine with the fastest recovery time – meaning the speed in which the detector’s internal processor operates. This becomes extremely valuable when hunting in areas known for an abundance of trash such as parks & tot lots.
The overall simplicity of the F2 along with its “turn on & go” ability makes it an extremely popular machine for beginners with a short learning curve so you can get out there & start hunting.
The Fisher F2 comes stock with an 8”, round concentric coil which gives the F2 killer pinpoint functionality.
Accessory coils include a 4” sniper - 10” round concentric & an 11” DD coil.
There are a few different Fisher packages available with the F2:
Q. How does the Fisher F2 compare to the Garrett ACE 250?
A. The F2 was built by Fisher to directly compete with Garrett’s ACE 250 – with full intentions on creating a better machine at a slightly lower price point. The biggest difference between the 2 machines is the superior recovery speed (processor speed) of the Fisher F2 which allows you to recover more targets faster.
Q. How does the Fisher F2 compare to the Tesoro Compadre?
A. The Compadre is a one-knob ‘beep & dig’ machine – there’s no screen or any visual indicators. While the Compadre is a very powerful machine, many people prefer the F2 with its large screen and target ID information.
The Compadre also has a very small coil compared to the F2 so it’s much harder to cover lots of ground area. Also the Compadre does not offer the ability to change coils for difference types of hunting like the F2 does.

The Fisher F2 is backed by Fisher's 5 Year Limited Warranty so you'll never have to worry about your machine breaking down.
We offer a 30-day money back gaurantee - no questions asked. See more details on our return policies by clicking here.

I've had my Fisher F2 for a few months now and to say I'm satisfied with it would be a gross understatement. It is the perfect beginner detector and a huge HUGE upgrade to my old BH Tracker IV
Pros:
Fast Target Recovery - Meaning that even if you swing relatively fast, the detector will still pick up the metal in the ground.
Easy Filters - Hit the notch button a few times and you won't hear iron, tabs, zinc, whatever. Sometimes it's nice to set your F2 on Dime/Quarter and go to town
Tones AND Numbers - Don't like looking at a screen? The tones will tell you what you need to know. Don't like listening to the tones? The numbers will tell you what you need to know.
Lightweight - eeeaaaasssssyyyyyyy swinging
Comes with a Free Sniper Coil and Pinpointer - for real
Good on batteries - Gone through one set in three months .... and that's without using headphones
Built-in Pinpointer Function - Works well when you forget your real propointer at home.
Cons:
ok, I'm really stretching to find some here .... I guess it's kind of a pain to switch out coils if you have big fingers
ummmmm
the shaft was hard to install .... because I didn't read the instructions
actually, that's all I have for cons
pound for pound, the F2 is the best starting detector for your money.
Fast, lightweight, accurate with tons of options and a free 4" coil and pinpointer.
you will not regret grabbing one of these.

I recenty bought the F2 along with the 3 coil package. This is my second detector, and although it is considered "entry level", it is still a great machine. I found many coins and relics in my yard that my other "higher end" detector had missed. The F2 is very light and easy to swing. It is also great for playgrounds. Hollandsbrook provided great communication, pricing, and fast delivery. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I bought this unit after many recommendations here and on the forums.
While I haven't used it much, I find it to be an accurate machine when set up properly.....make sure you notch out iron when coin shooting, and knock down sensitivity a notch...make extra sure that you tighten the connector to the control box to avoid undue chatter. I'm very happy with my purchase, and would recommend this to anyone looking for an entry level unit that will NOT go into the salt water.

Ive had my f2 for a couple months now and I love it. I started with a bounty tracker iv and used it only a couple of times. After getting the f2 with a dd coil it blew the bh out of the water and I'm hooked on the hobby. I stopped digging a ton of junk and started hitting coins with great accuracy. The only thing I may look for in the future is a couple more features but for now I am so glad I went with the f2 and purchased from hollandsbrook they were great to work with!

I bought the F2 from HollandsBrook right before Christmas 2011. So far, I'm loving this detector, especially when using the 4" sniper coil. It really seems to get in between the trash and spot the coins. In the last couple of metal detecting trips, I've found about $5 in clad, several Mardi Gras doubloons, 3 wheat pennies, old game tokens, and an old ax head. The pinpoint function works great, usually putting me right on the coin.
HollandsBrook was great to order from. Received my detector quickly and it was well-packaged. I would definitely recommend this detector and HollandsBrook for anyone thinking of joining the hobby.

Just prior to Christmas I did tons of internet research on which detector was the best for a beginner. The Fisher F2 name kept comiing up on internet forums. After much deliberation I contacted Marcus about purchasing the F2 package with 2 coils and a pinpointer. His price was outstanding and I hit the go button on an order.
The detector arrived quickly and was packaged well.
Upon opening the F2 was easy to assemble and the instruction manual was clear and easy to understand. The F2 is easy to learn and I have had a great time with it. It finds targets shallow or deep, and the pinpointing feature is invaluable.
I would buy the F2 again and I would certainly purchase from HollandsBrook.

I'm 66 yrs old and bought my first metal detector from Hollandsbrook in Dec., 2011. I bought the Fisher F2 with 8" & 4" coils and Marc gave me a great deal. It is very light weight and easy to use. If you get a solid signal...there is something there. You may have to dig 6 - 7" down and search awhile for it, but it will be there. The pinpoint feature is dead on which means you can dig small holes.
I know you are waiting to hear about finding Gold with the F2, so here is the story.
While hunting with the F2 on Jan 15, 2012(a little more than a month after getting it), I got a solid zinc signal 57 which would normally be a memorial penny. After digging down about 1.5 - 2" I pulled out a 18k solid gold watch with 42 small diamonds. It just goes to show that you don't need a really expensive detector to find gold. What you need is LUCK!!!
I would reccomend the F2 to anyone looking for a light weight detector that loves finding coins and jewelery.
